The Outdoor Collective
Who we are

Starting in 2010 between a group of friends, the group has now become a not for profit arm of finix with around a hundred current members throughout the UK and beyond. We organise joint group accommodation, all at cost price, and bring people together for amazing experiences in the outdoors.

The aims of the outdoor collective are to:
- bring together groups of professionals from different sectors, in the great outdoors, to meet, network, collaborate, and promote innovation across industry
- enhance physical and emotional wellbeing
- build resilience
- boost confidence, develop and enhance leadership traits, and develop team working abilities
- enhance EQ (emotional intelligence) in its members via objective rational decision making during physically and mentally challenging experiences and challenges

How it works

finix facilitates monthly trips for professionals to come together, network, and get into the great outdoors. Our trips range from UK based and international hikes and scrambles, gorge jumping, white water rafting, endurance challenges, and social events - to name but a few.

Simply message us on 07360 154312 requesting to join the outdoor collective, to be added to the group - or click here or the "say hello" button at the bottom of the page. Please note, the group is primarily run via WhatsApp, and so your number and name will be visible to other group members.

Trips are posted on the group, and you simply confirm any trips you're interested in, and you will be added to a separate specific WhatsApp group for that trip, which will then update you with further details including payment information, meeting times and accommodation information, proposed kit for the activity, and car pooling information options if you are unable to get to trip locations yourself.

finix organise the accommodation, and all administration for the trips. You must be confident that you have the fitness and ability to undertake any activities you participate in, and you are responsible for your own safety on trips (unless they are specialist instructor led activities).

The group includes experienced mountain walkers, and some members are training for their mountain leader qualification currently. We always carry mountain leader first aid kits, as well as some other basic safety equipment.

Trips usually have a format of meeting the night before the event, drinks and food as a group, then starting early morning (usually aiming to begin between 5.30am-6.30am). Post activity the group usually has a meal together, before travelling home. Please note that trip costs only cover your share of the group accommodation, and unless specified, we do not cover costs for travel, food, etc...

Our trips have seen us climb everywhere from Snowdonia, the Brecons, and the Lake and Peak Districts in the UK, and the Nepal Himalaya and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, on our international trips. We summited Mount Kilimanjaro in just 3.5 days!!!

We always operate to a "leave no trace" agenda. As part of our social value aspirations, and climate positive action as a company, we will always work to preserve and mitigate any impact to the natural environments in which we operate.
